About the Competition

Route to Success' Annual Competition is a flagship event designed to challenge students with a diverse range of mathematical problems. Our goal is to inspire a love for mathematics and foster a community of critical thinkers.

This event is open to all students in grades 1st through 8th. Whether you're a seasoned competitor or just starting out, this event is a perfect opportunity to test your skills, meet new people, and win some amazing prizes!

Where is the competition located?

BASIS Chandler (main campus not primary) - 4825 S Arizona Ave, Chandler, AZ 85248

What do I need to bring?

Pencils, erasers, a calculator, water bottle, and your thinking cap!

Who do I compete with?

There are 3 Grade divisions: 1-2, 3-5, 6-8. You will compete with students in your division.

How will results come out?

Each student will be given an ID number on a name tag sticker on the day of the exam. To keep scores anonymous, we will send out the results by ID numbers. If you forget your ID number, you can always email us!

What is the written exam format?

There will be three testing rounds:

  • Sprint - 30 questions, 50 minutes, no calculator
  • Target - 4 sets of 2 questions, 6 minutes for each set, calculator active
  • Team - 10 questions, 20 minutes, in teams of up to 4, calculator active

What should I do to prepare?

This math competition is meant for students to enjoy doing math, so preparation isn't required. If you would like to prepare, we recommend looking online for competition-style questions that are in the student's grade level range. Some sample questions exam may be found here: Sample Questions.

How does pick up and drop off work?

Parents have the option of either staying the entire time in the gym or dropping their kids off at 7:45 AM after check-in. Pick up will be around 12:15 PM when the competition ends.
